Not sure which colour suits your space? No problem! This overlay can be applied over any of our Arch series signs or for ultimate flexibility, we can apply one overlay to the reverse side of your CPR sign. Just mention this in the notes at checkout.

Your overlay is a printed and laminated adhesive version of your Silux sign, without an aluminium backing. It can be applied to the reverse of an existing Silux sign to make it double sided, or applied directly to glass. The laminate is what protects the print, so most of the care below is about protecting the laminate.
Before You Apply It
- Choose a smooth, flat, clean surface. The reverse face of a Silux sign or a clean glass panel are both suitable. Textured, curved or rough surfaces are not.
- Clean the surface with warm soapy water, rinse, and dry completely.
- Do not use glass cleaner or any product containing ammonia or additives beforehand. The residue left behind will stop the adhesive bonding properly.
- Apply in mild conditions where you can. Very hot or very cold surfaces make application harder.
- Work from one edge across to the other, smoothing as you go, so air is pushed out rather than trapped.
- Small bubbles usually settle within the first few days of sun exposure.
- Take your time. Once the overlay has bonded it is not designed to be lifted and repositioned.
Keeping It Legible
Your overlay carries the CPR content, so it needs to stay clearly readable from a distance.
- Check the overlay at the start of each pool season and after any major storm.
- Look for lifting edges, bubbling, clouding of the laminate, or any print that has faded or become difficult to read.
- If the overlay is applied to glass, check that no edge has been picked at or lifted.
- If it has faded, lifted or become difficult to read, it should be replaced. A sign that cannot be read may no longer meet compliance requirements.
Routine Cleaning
- Wipe with a soft, damp cloth and mild soapy water.
- Rinse with fresh water and dry with a soft cloth.
- Rinse chlorine and salt water splashes away promptly.
- Wipe with the edges rather than against them, so you are not lifting an edge as you clean.
Cleaning the Glass Around It
This is the one most people get wrong.
- Ammonia based and solvent based glass cleaners will damage the laminate and the print beneath it. Keep them off the overlay entirely, and watch for overspray when cleaning the rest of the panel.
- Clean the overlay itself with mild soapy water only.
- Never use a razor blade, glass scraper, steel wool or abrasive pad anywhere near the overlay. These are common tools for cleaning glass and they will destroy it in one pass.
What to Avoid
- Do not use solvents, methylated spirits, acetone, bleach or abrasive cleaners.
- Do not pressure wash. High pressure will force water behind the edges and lift the overlay.
- Do not pick at a lifting edge or attempt to peel and reapply. Contact us instead.
- Do not apply stickers, tape or adhesives over the overlay.
- Do not cut, trim or modify the overlay. Modifying it may affect compliance.
Important Usage Notes
- Your overlay is a printed and laminated adhesive sign with no rigid backing. It takes its strength and flatness from the surface it is applied to.
- Positioning and compliance requirements vary by location. If you are unsure whether your overlay is correctly placed, or whether an overlay applied to glass meets requirements in your area, check with your pool certifier or local authority.
- Printed and laminated graphics are fade resistant, not fade proof. Some softening of colour over years of direct sun is normal.
- Damage resulting from misuse, incorrect application or inappropriate cleaning will not be covered under the Silux Quality Guarantee.
- Dispose of all packaging thoughtfully and keep out of reach of children.
