Your outdoor cover protects the daybed from sun, rain and dust. It is worth knowing what a cover does and does not do. It keeps water off. It does not dry anything out.

Before You Cover the Daybed

• Make sure the cushions and bolsters are completely dry, right through, before the cover goes on. Foam holds moisture long after the surface feels dry.
• Covering a damp daybed traps that moisture against the fabric for days or weeks. This is the most common cause of mildew and marking, and a cover makes it worse rather than better.
• Brush off leaves, dirt and debris first, so nothing is pressed into the fabric underneath.

Fitting the Cover

• Fit the cover evenly so it sits smoothly over the whole daybed.
• Make sure water cannot pool on top. Standing water stretches the fabric, adds weight and will eventually find its way through.
• Check the cover after heavy rain and clear any water that has collected.
• Remove or secure the cover in strong wind. A loose cover can lift, and the daybed underneath is not held down by it.

Airing It Out

• Take the cover off on a dry, sunny day every few weeks and let the daybed breathe.
• Condensation forms under any cover as temperatures change through the day. Airing it out regularly is what keeps that from becoming a problem.
• Use the airing as a chance to check underneath for damp spots, leaves or insects.

Cleaning the Cover

• Hose down and clean with warm soapy water and a soft brush.
• Rinse thoroughly and air dry completely, inside and out.
• Rinse chlorine and salt water splashes away promptly.
• Do not machine wash, tumble dry, iron or dry clean. Heat and agitation damage the coating that makes the fabric weather resistant.
• Do not bleach and do not use solvents or abrasive cleaners.
• Do not pressure wash.

Storage

• Make sure the cover is completely dry before folding it away.
• Store folded in a cool, dry place out of direct sunlight.
• If the cover is stored damp it will develop odour and mildew, and it will pass that on to the daybed the next time you use it.

Important Usage Notes

• Designed to fit and protect the Silux Poolside Daybed.
• Weather resistant, not waterproof, and not designed for prolonged submersion or standing water.
• A cover extends the life of your daybed. It does not replace bringing cushions undercover in storms or storing them properly over the cooler months.
• The cover is the part designed to take the weather. Some fading and wear over years of direct sun is normal and expected.
• Damage resulting from misuse, pooled water, wind or inappropriate cleaning will not be covered under the Silux Quality Guarantee.
• Dispose of all packaging thoughtfully and keep out of reach of children.
