Your bolster is made from the same olefin fabric as our Poolside Cushions and Outdoor Pillows, with a soft, loose fill. It is made to be soft and relaxed, not a firm, rigid cylinder. That softness is also why it needs some work from you when it first arrives.

Unpacking and Reshaping

• Your bolster ships vacuum sealed. It will come out of the bag flat, squashed and out of shape. This is expected and it is not a fault.
• Take care when cutting the outer plastic. Use scissors or a blunt tipped tool rather than a sharp blade, as cutting too deep may damage the bolster inside.
• Hold it at one end and shake it firmly, then swap ends and repeat. This loosens the fill.
• Work along the length with your hands. Pull apart any flat or clumped sections and push the fill back out towards the ends.
• Roll it and pat it back into a cylinder. Expect to spend a few minutes on this. It will not spring back by itself.
• If it still looks uneven, repeat the shake and reshape. The more you work the fill, the fuller it gets.

What to Expect

• This is a soft bolster. It gives when you lean on it and will not hold a tight, perfectly round shape.
• Some unevenness along the length is normal with a loose fill and is easily reshaped by hand.
• Minor creasing in the fabric from compression is normal and settles with use.
• To ease creases, use a fabric wrinkle release spray or a handheld steamer on the lowest setting. Olefin is heat sensitive, so never use high heat.

Everyday Care

• Plump and reshape after use. A soft fill settles where it is leaned on, and a quick shake and roll brings it back.
• Turn and rotate it regularly. This evens out both fade and compression.
• Rinse with fresh water after chlorine or salt water splashes. Residue left to dry is what dulls the fabric over time.

Cleaning

• Spot clean with warm soapy water and a soft brush.
• Rinse thoroughly and allow to air dry completely.
• Treat sunscreen, tanning oil and insect repellent as soon as you notice them. Blot with a clean cloth rather than rubbing, then wash the area with warm soapy water and rinse.
• Do not bleach, dry clean or tumble dry.

Sun and Storage

• Bring your bolster undercover in heavy rain and storms.
• If it does get soaked, stand it on its end with airflow around it and dry it fully before storing. Trapped moisture in the fill is what causes musty odour.
• When not in use for extended periods, store in a cool, dry place away from prolonged UV exposure.
• Do not store it compressed or under heavy items. It will flatten and need reshaping again.

Important Usage Notes

• Designed for daybeds, outdoor lounges and poolside seating.
• Water resistant, not waterproof, and not designed to be submerged or used as a pool float.
• Olefin is highly fade resistant, not fade proof. Some softening of colour over years of direct sun is normal.
• Damage resulting from misuse or inappropriate use will not be covered under the Silux Quality Guarantee.
• Dispose of all packaging thoughtfully and keep out of reach of children.
