Keeping Your Sign Legible
A pool safety sign only does its job if it can be read clearly from a distance.
- Check that all text, diagrams and images remain clear and easy to read.
- Do this at the start of each pool season and after any major storm.
- If the print has faded, lifted or become difficult to read, the sign should be replaced. A sign that cannot be read may no longer meet compliance requirements.
Routine Cleaning
- Wipe with a soft, damp cloth and mild soapy water.
- Rinse with fresh water and dry with a soft cloth.
- Rinse chlorine and salt water splashes away promptly. Residue left to dry will dull the surface over time.
What to Avoid
- Do not use solvents, methylated spirits, acetone, bleach or abrasive cleaners. These will damage the printed surface.
- Do not use abrasive pads, scourers or scrapers.
- Do not pressure wash. High pressure can lift the printed surface and force water behind the edges.
- Do not apply stickers, tape or adhesives to the face of the sign.
Checking the Mounting
A sign that has come loose is no longer doing its job.
- Check that fixings or suction caps are secure at the start of each season and after strong winds.
- For suction cap mounting, clean both the glass and the face of the cap with warm soapy water, dry both surfaces, then press firmly to reseat. Dust or sunscreen residue is the usual reason a cap lets go.
- Retighten screws or brackets if there is any movement.
Important Usage Notes
- Your Silux sign is made from durable aluminium with a printed face, built for continuous outdoor exposure.
- Do not drill, cut or modify the sign. Modifying it may affect compliance.
- Do not paint over any part of the face.
- Positioning and compliance requirements vary by location. If you are unsure whether your sign is correctly placed, check with your pool certifier or local authority.
- Damage resulting from misuse, modification or inappropriate cleaning will not be covered under the Silux Quality Guarantee.

I love it, it’s not up yet as the pool has only been in for a few months, and am still waiting for tiles and pool fence to go in. But I can’t wait till it all comes together, and with the Silux things I’ve been buying I’m sure it will look fabulous. 🌼
