Outdoor Pillow Care & Use Guide

Unpacking & Pillow Recovery

Your pillows have been compressed and sealed for safe transport.

  • After opening, allow each pillow to sit in a well ventilated area for a few hours to regain its full loft.
  • Hold the pillow at opposite corners and firmly pat both sides to redistribute the fill, then repeat on the other two corners.
  • A warm room or indirect sunlight will help the fill relax and recover faster.

About Wrinkles & Creasing

  • Due to compression, some minor wrinkling or creasing may be visible after recovery. This is normal and settles with use.
  • To minimise any remaining wrinkles, use a fabric wrinkle release spray, or lightly steam with a handheld steamer on the lowest setting.

⚠ Important: Olefin fabric is heat sensitive. Always use the lowest heat setting when steaming or ironing to avoid fabric damage.

Everyday Care

Outdoor pillows do the most work of anything in your pool area. They get leaned on, moved, and left in the sun.

  • Plump and reshape your pillows after use so the fill stays even and the corners stay full.
  • Rotate them regularly. Turning the pillow over evens out both fade and compression.
  • Rinse with fresh water after chlorine or salt water splashes. Residue left to dry is what dulls the fabric over time.

Cleaning

Routine cleaning:

  • Spot clean with warm soapy water and a soft brush.
  • Rinse thoroughly with a hose and allow to air dry completely.

Sunscreen, tanning oil and insect repellent:

  • Treat these as soon as you notice them. Blot with a clean cloth rather than rubbing, then wash the area with warm soapy water and rinse.
  • Oil based products are the most common cause of permanent marking on outdoor fabric. Prompt attention matters more than the product you use.

For heavier stains:

  • Remove the inner pillow and wash the cover only.
  • Zip the cover closed, then machine wash on a gentle cold cycle, water temperature not exceeding 40°C.
  • Do not bleach. Do not dry clean. Do not tumble dry.
  • Lay flat to dry fully, then refit the cover while it is still slightly relaxed for an easier fit.
  • Iron on low heat only if required.

Storage & Maintenance

  • Bring your pillows undercover in heavy rain or storms. They are smaller and lighter than a cushion and will saturate faster.
  • If a pillow does get soaked, stand it on its edge to drain, then dry it fully before storing. Trapped moisture in the fill is what causes musty odour.
  • Ensure the inner pillow is completely dry before storage.
  • When not in use for extended periods, store in a cool, dry place away from prolonged UV exposure.

Important Usage Notes

Your Silux Outdoor Pillows are made for poolside comfort and styling.

  • Use only for their intended purpose.
  • These pillows are water resistant, not waterproof, and are not designed to be submerged or used as pool floats.
  • Olefin is highly fade resistant, not fade proof. Some softening of colour over years of direct sun is normal.
  • Damage resulting from misuse or inappropriate use will not be covered under the Silux Quality Guarantee.
  • Dispose of all packaging thoughtfully and keep out of reach of children.

⚠ Important: Take care when cutting into the outer plastic. We recommend scissors or a blunt tipped tool rather than a sharp blade, as cutting too deep may damage the pillow inside.
