Before You Pack Anything Away
This is the part that matters most. Everything you put inside the bag must be completely dry, right through.
- Cushions, daybed panels, bolsters and pillows all need to be fully dry before they go in. Foam and fill hold moisture long after the surface feels dry, so give them longer than you think.
- Stand pieces on their edge with airflow on both sides for a day or two before packing.
- A storage bag protects against dust and dirt. It does not dry anything out. Anything packed away damp will stay damp, and will come out marked or with odour.
- Make sure the inside of the bag is dry as well.
Packing and Carrying
- Load the bag evenly and do not overfill it. Forcing the zip closed puts strain on the seams and the zip itself.
- Brush sand and grit off both the contents and the zip before closing.
- Carry by the built in handles. Do not drag the bag across concrete or paving, as this will wear through the base.
- Lift with two people when the bag is full and heavy.
Where to Store It
- Store in a cool, dry, well ventilated place, out of direct sunlight.
- Keep the bag raised off a concrete floor where you can, on a shelf, pallet or timber batten. Concrete draws moisture upward and it will find its way in.
- Do not stack heavy items on top of a packed bag for long periods.
- This is a storage bag, not a permanent outdoor cover. Left outside, condensation will form inside it.
Cleaning the Bag
- Wipe inside and out with a soft, damp cloth and mild soapy water.
- Rinse chlorine and salt water splashes away promptly.
- Air dry completely, inside and out, before folding it away.
- Do not machine wash, tumble dry, iron or dry clean. Heat and agitation will damage the coating that keeps the fabric water resistant.
- Do not bleach and do not use solvents or abrasive cleaners.
Through the Off Season
- Check the bag once mid season. Open it up, look and smell for any sign of moisture, and air the contents if anything feels damp.
- Airing everything on a dry day partway through winter costs you an hour and saves the contents.
Important Usage Notes
- Designed for storing Silux poolside cushions, daybed pieces, pillows and outdoor essentials between uses.
- Do not use as a permanent outdoor cover, and do not store in a position where water can pool on top of it.
- Keep away from sharp objects, and take care with garden tools and metal shelving in storage areas.
- Damage resulting from misuse, overloading or inappropriate cleaning will not be covered under the Silux Quality Guarantee.
- Dispose of all packaging thoughtfully and keep out of reach of children. Keep empty bags away from small children.
